10 STEP FRENCH PHARMACY SKINCARE ROUTINE
A few months ago, I came across a video of Jeanne Damas for Vogue. She went through her skincare routine and how she only uses French pharmacy products. Apparently that’s a thing there. French women are known for their beauty, so I decided to give it a try. I went through a lot of products. Some worked, some not as much. I wanted to share the ones that I found I will be repurchasing for a long time. I’ve created my own ten step skincare routine with very affordable products.
Step 1: Micellar Water
Bioderma Micellar Water
I don’t get the fuss about Micellar Waters. I use this product before I workout when I don’t want anything blocking my pores but I don’t want to wash my face for the third time in a day. I also use it when I run errands in the morning and come home in the afternoon, when it’s not really night to start my skincare but I want my skin to breathe. That’s about it. I have tried also the Garnier one but it was just okay.
Step 2: Makeup removal
Eucerin DermatoCLEAN Mild Cleansing Milk
I have found that removing my makeup with a cleansing milk is what works for me. That’s how I start my skincare routine. I apply it and massage my face, my eyes and lips with this. It’s a very mild product but at the same time it removes all of my makeup. I remove it with lukewarm water. My skin feels so moisturized and clean in the end. I highly recommend this one.
Step 3: Exfoliating
Nuxe Gelee Exfoliante Douce
I have to exfoliate my face at least 3 times a week to get rid of my dead skin. Everybody that has dry skin knows the struggle. This product is a life saver. It’s highly effective but it doesn’t harm your skin.
Step 4: Cleansing
Avene Cleanance Gel
I have to be honest. I’ve been using this cleanser ever since I was 14 years old. I swear by it. If I could keep only one skincare product I would choose this one. It cleanses my skin so well. My dermatologist insists on cleansing my skin because as he says “anything you use afterwards won’t work on a dirty face”, meaning makeup and other skincare stuff. It has helped me a lot with acne too.
I have to mention I used the Castalia Cleanser as well which worked perfectly. If you have an oily skin and acne prone skin I would suggest this one.
Step 5: Face Masks
Vichy Masque Mineral Desalterant
Definitely one of my favorite masks. I use a hydrating mask once a week and I switch up between this one and the Vichy Double Glow Peel Mask which works perfectly but I have to say I prefer the Mineral Mask. And it smells amazing. It’s also super cooling!
Caudalie Iinstant Detox Mask
I use a detox mask again once a week and I change it between this one and the L’oreal pure clay mask. When I first bought the L’oreal mask I didn’t think I could find anything to top it off but the Caudalie one is just as high up there.
Step 6: Toner
Vichy Purete Thermale Toner
If you’re looking for a soothing toner this one is for you. I have to say, I haven’t been using it for that long but I want to see if it will speed up my scar healing process. I will keep you updated.
Step 7: Serum
Caudalie Vineactive Huile de Nuit Detox
This serum cleanses the skin from all the pollution and really detoxes it. I wear it every night and I’ve already recommended it to all of my friends. I think it’s the most expensive product in this list but it’s honestly not that much and it’s worth investing in it if you live in the city.
Step 8: Moisturizer
La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5
Do you know how in “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” the dad is obsessed with Windex and he is using it everywhere? I’m like that with this crème. Honestly, such a game changer. It is super moisturizing. If you’re not looking for that, it’s not for you. I use it before I sleep, before I put on my makeup as it creates a great base and it’s literally making me glow, I use it as a very natural highlighter for that healthy glow, as a lip balm and on my elbows and knew when they are dry. Need I say anything else?
Step 9: Sunscreen
Castalia Helioderm Sunscreen
One of the most important steps; sunscreen! I wear it winter and summer all year around to protect me from aging badly even if I’m still 18.
Step 10: Thermal Water
La Roche Posay Eau Thermale Spring Water
I’ve always snobbed thermal water sprays and I thought they were such a waste of money. I thought that they wouldn’t change my face at all and that they were “just water”. I was wrong. I spray this probably ten times a day. It’s so refreshing.
I didn’t purchase any eye creams just because I’m perfectly happy with the one I’m currently using.
